Civil Wedding in Bodø City Hall

Here you can find information on how to book time for civil wedding ceremonies in the City Hall.

Civil wedding ceremonies takes place in Blåsalen in the City Hall Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm.

How to get married?

In order to get married, you need to do two things:

Book time for the wedding ceremony.
Apply for a certificate of no impediment to enter into marriage (prøvingsattest). The certificate is valid for 4 months, and has to be valid on the day of the wedding.

You can book time for the wedding ceremony online.

The online booking is only available in Norwegian.

This process takes about 5 to 6 weeks. Make sure you allow plenty of time for this to be processed before the wedding date.

You need to send or deliver the certificate of no impediment to enter into marriage to us at least three weeks before the wedding ceremony.

If you or your partner have a registered address in Bodø or you both live abroad the civil wedding ceremony is free.

If you have a registered address in other Norwegian municipalities than Bodø the price for the wedding ceremony is NOK 750.

The wedding ceremony takes place in Blåsalen on the third floor of the Town Hall. There is room for 24 guests.
Please arrive no later than 10 minutes before your wedding ceremony.
The couple must present identification on the wedding day. Passports, National Identity cards (EEA), Norwegian issued driver's licenses and bank cards with photo and personal identification number, are considered valid IDs.
Make sure that there are two witnesses present during the wedding ceremony. This can be any person over the age of 18.
If one or both of you do not understand Norwegian or English, you must bring a qualified interpreter to the wedding ceremony.
